‘Martin is by far the best physiotherapist that I’ve had work on me. He explains what he is going to do and even shows you what he is going to do. I’ve had two back surgery’s and I’ve seen a few therapist’s but with Martin I’ve had results. He shows that he cares and is very happy when he gets the results.’ V. I.
‘Martin takes the time to ask how things are before he starts treatment. Once he found out I had bacterial infection he consulted with my family Dr and they both agreed to limit therapy that day. Anywhere else they would not have asked the question, as they would not have been noticing or talking with me but over me.’ O. I.
‘I first had an appointment with Martin Bull because of neck pain caused by degenerative discs in my upper back and neck. After two visits, which involved stretching and realigning my upper back and neck, I was not only pain-free, but I had regained flexibility in my neck that I hadn’t had for years. My second problem was migraine headaches also caused by the worn discs in my neck. This time Martin used acupuncture for a couple of sessions and the pain was gone at least for a while. I needed follow-up treatments to keep it in check.
Then it was severe pain in my left foot, and while Martin didn’t directly treat this, he showed me how my foot was twisted and suggested orthotics as a cure. Sure enough, when I got the right arch support for my foot the pain disappeared. I was amazed that Martin could cure things that I would not have believed were remotely connected to my posture. I would highly recommend Martin Bull to anyone suffering from muscle or joint pain! M.T.’
‘I have been singing Martin’s praises since my first visit with him. He is the first physiotherapist I have seen (and I have seen a few over the years) who really seems to try to fix the problem instead of just putting a Band-aid on it (heat, cold, etc.) He is very supportive and informative, explaining his findings and how he plans to treat them. I appreciate that he provides me with home exercises to assist with the healing process and explains why the exercises are beneficial.
As for his location at the Elmsdale Medical Centre, it is very convenient, not only because I can see him before or after a visit with my family doctor, but the Medical Centre is quite close to my home as well.’ R.O
‘Debbie’s warm social graces do very much contribute to my healing process for sure. Martin has such a calm demeanor and is able to explain various exercises that may help with the strengthening of my back. I enjoy his stories and his background experiences and studies more than qualify him for being a physiotherapist. Thanks so much Martin.’ H.E.
‘I would just like to say that my physiotherapy sessions with Martin have greatly improved my physical comfort. I also like the convenience of going to the Elmsdale Medical centre for my appointments as it is close to home. Both of you are always so pleasant and friendly’ I.D.
‘I have been having therapy with Martin Bull for over a month. I have found him to be very knowledgeable, helpful, understanding, spending extra time with me to in courage me to keep going & to have a positive attitude. What I like the most is that he is in with the doctors where he can consult with them which he has done for myself twice. He has brought things to my doctor's attention that neither I nor my doctor would have known about. I appreciate the interaction between the doctors & Martin very much.’ W.S.
I found Martin to be a passionate and very well-informed professional. He gives a lot of homework, and has played an integral role in my recovery from a knee injury. T.P.

“On December 7, 2018 I had a complete knee replacement on my right knee. One week later I start physio to regain the movement that I had before. I chose Physio Direct in the Elmsdale Clinic because it was also the home of my family doctor. Becky Hamar, the physiotherapist that I saw worked with me. She used her skills and knowledge to help me best use the exercises I was doing at home that were given to me by my doctor and the hospital. My progress was fantastic I started regaining both strength and motion. I walked every day starting in January and started slow dancing in March. I feel that without Becky’s knowledge and support my recovery would have taken much longer and may not have had the same results.
On July 2, 2019 I had a complete knee replacement on my left knee. After two weeks I started physio again at Physio Direct in Elmsdale. Because of appointment times and my schedule I chose to see Martin Bull. He is a physiotherapist who has moved to Canada from the UK.
His knowledge and experience working with sports injuries and athletes was most beneficial with the type of knee replacement surgery I had. The skill and precision Martin brought to each and every concern I had about pain, swelling and motion or lack of it was amazing. I also feel that both Becky and Martin’s personalities and sense of humour helped get me through some of the rough spots.
Last but by no means least, a special thanks to all the people working in the clerical and administration part of the Clinic who made booking of appointments so easy. Their cheery phone call reminders helped getting there on the right day and time much easier.”
SO MANY THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SEND THIS TO US - WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL THAT YOU PLACED YOUR TRUST IN US AND FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS. DEBBIE
“As a physically active individual, through the years I have had my share of sports related injuries and physio treatment to keep me going. Martin Bull has been the most attentive and effective physiotherapist I have work with by a wide margin. When you arrange for an hour with Martin, you get the full hour and more of physiotherapy along with advice and guidance. Martin is truly engaged during the entire session. He treats patients with respect, listening attentively to their concerns, then formulating a program that delivers results. In a short time, Martin addressed my pain and flexibility issues and I am now pain free and back to my full exercise routine.”
Thanks again for your attentive treatment and addressing both of my issues. My arm is just fine, and my neck is much more flexible thanks to your effective treatment.
So glad that you had an excellent result and thank you for taking the time to send us your commendation and thoughts. We are very pleased that we were able to help and that you allwed us the opportunity! We count ourselves very lucky to have such dedicated therapists wihin the team. Debbie
The team at Physio Direct are more than pleasant to deal with. With any visit or phone call Debbie is more than happy to help you in any way she can and makes you feel like family vs a client. Martins approach to physiotherapy is in my opinion by far the best to "properly" recover from an injury. Martin doesn't look at a injured part, he looks at an injured body. His approach is always person and injury specific. Every treatment has the patient’s best interests in mind, always willing to add adaptations to every hurtle or situation encountered along the way to recovery. He explains in depth without confusion why he is recommending and performing each treatment and what "we" expect to see happen along the way.
I was referred to Martin by a very close friend from the community years ago for other smaller injuries. Within the last year I had been suffering from a life changing fall and was being treated elsewhere (not of my choosing). With a lot of push I was finally placed in Martins care where I knew I should be. I had been in touch with this friend over the past year and he knew my situation. I recently explained to my friend what I had seen in my own self improvements within a short period of time with his treatments. He responded, " Martin changed my life, I am sure he will change yours!"
I have referred to Martin as a hidden gem when I explain his approaches and recommend him to others with injuries. With his vast, high level, sports injury knowledge and his diverse "hands on" and "one on one" treatment sessions and plans I would place my "physical" side of my life in his hands any day!
In saying all this as Nova Scotians we are going through diverse times (April, May 2020) The Physio Direct team has been by my side for all needs small or big. They have changed their ways to accommodate not just me, but everyone in "their" care. Utmost, this means the world to "me" as my injury does not just include me, it includes my family. As I had stated at the beginning, "I" am treated like family, not a client! If you are injured and have the drive, time and self determination to put forth to get yourself back to 100% pre-injury state than Martin Bull and his team at Physio Direct are your physiotherapy providers hands down!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments, we are so grateful to have lovely, thoughtful patients - and never take your trust for granted!
Thank you for letting us know how you found your treatment and experience with us. Martin is always happy to help and is continuously aware that he is treating people, not numbers or revenue! So glad we have your confidence!
I had a total knee replacement and went to Martin for physiotherapy on my "new knee" and the surrounding muscles. Martin was extremely knowledgeable and professional. As I was doing exercises on my own, he felt the best use of my time with him would be to concentrate on breaking up scar tissue, reactivating muscles that I hadn't been using due to walking with pain for many years, stretching and bending the muscles, and making sure I was now walking correctly. Martin was personable and friendly, and his office was clean and inviting. The desk staff was friendly and accommodating as well. I attribute much of my fast recovery time to being able to have physio with Martin twice weekly and I know I will be going when the second knee gets replaced. I highly recommend Martin and PhysioDirect!
I would like to take the time to thank Martin and Becky at Physio Direct for the help with the back pain I was having. It took some time, But they got me back to work and my back is feeling strong.
Martin and Becky are a great team and very pleasant to work with!
May 2020: Thank you 'C' for your very kind comments and recommendation - we're happy to help!
I just wanted to take a few moments to thank you. The problem with my shoulder started last summer and progressed to the point that I was in constant, intense pain. My GP referred me to you a few weeks ago and we started therapy the first day I contacted you, by telephone (due to the virus). You were a great help from the start. Within days I felt progress. Now, the pain has diminished to the point I have full, painless, mobility again....and the pain does not wake me up several times per night..
I am continuing with the exercises you suggested, although I sometimes think I am completely healed. I am very grateful for your patience and understanding. I have been, (and will continue), highly recommending you to all I come in contact with. My friends and family have seen the progress and results of only a few weeks of your care. Again, thank you very much.
